3 reasons there is no season.

1 - There can't be one yet, LOL. We are still under the delisting monitoring plan which last 7 years and started in 2016 I believe.

2- They keeping finding too many dead. They found 49 dead year before last.

3 - I am not 100% if this has to happen, but they want to prove they are breeding and moving up and down the different major population zones. They refer to this as the Louisiana Black Bear Corridor. So they want to prove a bear from Tensas Parish screwed a bear in lets say St. Mary Parish all on its own. Then that baby screwed another bear in Concordia Parish and so on and so forth.

This is all what I can best remember from reading articles over the years and talking with friends that work for the wildlife department.

The 49 they found dead,is that documented?Date, location, photo, and necropsy to determine cause of death. At this point of my life,I don’t trust any gov’t agency. If they’re not corrupt, they are incompetent.

guided or DIY public land? Was just in NC as well. Want to plan a bear hunt eventually. I heard they run dogs for them a lot but I would like to try with a bow.

All of that kind of info is on the LDWF Website. You just have to do some digging. I believe more than half of those were stated to be car accidents in the publication I read. There are usually +/-20 that get shot every year. I am sure if you ask the right person they could give you all of that.

I am all for a season. I eat bear all the time. I have some in my freezer now from Alaska. It is very good. I will be putting in for tags as soon as they are available.

We have our own unique subspecies of Black Bear. It is the only subspecies of Black Bear to ever be listed as threated species needing federal protection. That is why there is so much care being taken of them.

We were hunting on our own with a bow. Were hunting the National Forest in the mountains. We were there a week and saw 7 different bear of the stand. Was trying to let my wife kill one with a bow. She shot two bear that we were never able to retrieve. Tracked one in the mountains for 800yds and blood started less and less. Guys that we new put the dogs on trail and they jumped him up that night and he killed one of their dogs. They say their fat eventually clogs the hole and they won’t bleed anymore. Came back empty handed but was a fun trip.

Plenty of them around Cypremort point. Enough of them around for the parish to pay for them fancy bear proof trash cans.

I kind of feel like they know the antis are going to come out in full force if and when they open a season. Complete with a lawsuit

Seen several deer hunting . I have no desire to kill one . I don't have issues with others pulling the trigger . I would like to kill every hog in Louisiana .
