g loomis replaced the e6x with the GCX several years back. Msrp is $260.

It's my personal opinion that Loomis doesn't become worth the sticker until you hit the GLX range. For $260 or less you could get all of the following that are equal or better to the GCX:
Megabass Levante
Shimano Zodias
St Croix victory
Kistler Helium
Daiwa Kage
ALX Zolo

You're also dangerously close to Shimano Expride territory which is head and shoulders above most of the rods I just listed.

I just got my first Expride B in. Medium spinning. Damn that thing is nice. Can't decide if it's going to be drop shot or jig head.

Next up will be the poison series. You’ll start with the Adrena, and then the next thing you know, a handful of Glorious will be on your deck.

Ask me how I know…

I love Lews custom light rods. Chatterbaits, swim jigs, spinnerbaits, top water. Have 7 of them.

I have some Dobyn’s Kaden rods and they are good rods. The problem with Dobyns is they were bought out by another company who is absolute trash. I had the worst customer experience issue of my entire life with them and I will not be buying from them again. I do like the rods though.

The Daiwa Procyon is a great affordable option. I have researched high end rods extensively and nothing gets better reviews than the Shimano Exprides

Across the whole line, these rods are excellent. I find theyre somewhat overbuilt (more double foot guides than necessary) and the handle lengths are a tad longer than I prefer, but top to bottom this lineup excels.

If you want to find individual rods for specific applications, I think other manf have better technique specific models in a lot of cases, but if I could only use one production rod lineup, it would be the exprides.

Megabass has higher fit and finish and does some really unique things with blank design for ultra technique specific rods. Daiwas Steez AGS rods have some legendary models and the nrx lineup for g loomis is the benchmark for bottom contact sensitivity, but the Exprides are not far behind.

That's something that bothers me, but this spinning model does not have that.

So in the last few months I was able to pick up that rod and a Soare 2500 new with tags at BBC for about 1/2 retail. The combo is so fine. Those guys have serious spending problems

I’ve considered buying an Expride for some time now. Are the actions and powers they provide fairly accurate across the lineup? I was reading somewhere that the poison adrenas are a little faster than listed so i wondered about it. Thanks for the info.

I find them to be consistent and accurate with their line.

As is often the case, a spinning rod medium power fishes a little lighter than a casting rod medium power but that is common across most brands I find.

Most of my freshwater setups are Castaway Skeleton 2. Been good to me for many years.

They stopped making them because they were too good for the price! I have two of the inshore models and bought my FIL one when they were on closeout clearance. Wish I would have bought a few more
