Bark collars

What's the OB's opinion on these. I've got a 4 month old that barks excessively when I let my other dog out of the kennel but not her. So today I tried a bark collar and it didn't go so well. Seemed to be ok at first, but after a while she started again and she wouldn't turn it off. Just keep barking and crying. She was starting to go nuts so I ran over and calmed her down and took it off. I didn't want it to ruin her. Should I have just let it go and she figure it out?

Might be turned too high. Some dogs Yelp when they get lit up this causing a vicious cycle

I had it on progressive. Meaning it turned the pressure up until she quit. As I'm typing this I'm realizing that might have been a mistake. May try it again on constant one. Just don't want to make her collar shy before I even collar condition.

Eventually she/he will be barked out, never used the progressive mode but the guy who bought my last BC did and it cured his mutt.

The dog is probably too young. I wouldn’t use one till 6-8 months.

Lmao dude you have to collar condition the dog or it won’t (and obviously doesn’t) even know what’s going on.
Wait a few more months until you do corrective action and obedience is understood, and then when the dog gets a jolt, it will understand what you want it to do. You’re doing more harm than not at this point until yoour dog understands what’s on her neck.

Yeah she may be too young for it, but I'm not sure you have to collar condition before the bark collar. I've been watching a pro trainers videos and he uses the bark collar on noisy dogs to prepare them for the e collar. I get what your saying that the dog should understand why it's getting pressure, but with the bark collar no command is given. I would imagine that most people that use bark collars don't have a clue what collar conditioning is and are successful with the bark collar.

Collar conditioning does not apply to bark collars

Just beat it every time it barks... it’ll learn eventually
