spinning and spin cast reels twist the crap out of the line...bait casters don't... I use spinning reels for finesse fishing due to the lighter baits and lighter lines I need to use and some saltwater fishing...baitcasters for everything else...

It sounds like it's a combination of the spool tension, brake adjustment and thumb/spool pressure;

After you get this down you'll throw away those sissy spinning reels

In all seriousness, tie on a weight and practice. That's how I learned when I was 5

This

But in all seriousness, it will take as little as a few days to get the hang of it without birdsnesting.

However it will take another 3 years to become a good caster.

Anyone who bass fishes needs to learn how to cast a bait caster. A damn spinning reel frustrates the hell out of me. If I use one for any length of time I end up with a twisted up mess.

I have one spinning reel with 8 pound fluoro, and I use it to skip docks.

Make sure you are turning your wrists when you cast . Thumb should be on inside . Proper rod to match bait weight is key as well.

Bro, it takes some patience. Not sure how many miles of Stren I went through. Just keep chuckin', you'll get it. Brave admission BTW.
