I've done some research and have almost decided to pull the trigger on the Bad Boy 60 inch 27 HP ZT Elite Zero Turn mower with the Kohler engine for $5,000. I have to cut about 3.5 acres in south Louisiana. Yah or Nay?

Good solid mowers but not great. Great bang or your buck.

Does this mean they break down a lot? Hard to repair? Or just don't cut very well? I know someone who is looking to get a mower that won't throw out my...uh...HIS back from bouncin around on uneven ground.

That sounds like a good price. My brothers 50" has a 30 HP though, is 27 HP enough for a 60"?

love mine. I got the outlaw with the 30hp no complaints. Kindda heavy on steep slopes but you just have to take it easy

I just looked at some pics. Looks alot like a Hustler.

Appears to have a good welded deck (really good).

My only concern is that I do not see a chain for hanging the deck.

That means that there has to be some sort of arm solidly connecting the deck to the mower. I'd be a little concerned about that connection point failing over time, unless your land is really smooth.

I may be fuller-o-shite than a christmas turkey, but that's my take. I'd take a closer look at that particular connection point before buying.

Bad Boys own website only rates if for 0-2 acres? and their's nothing 'PRO' about the Kohler Courage 'Pro'! Step up to the CZT, with the Kawasaki FS is twice the engine. It's rated for 0-4 acres?

They are good quality for the money. You can spend more (lots more) and get Scag or Kubota but do you really need that much machine.

Ferris mowers typically have the best ride and most suspension available.

30 hp on a 50" is complete overkill. Nothing wrong with it, just overkill. A good 27 hp motor will run a 60" deck with no problems.

I was a little worried when I saw the 0-2 acres thing as well.

If he's not gonna have a mulch kit on the mower 27hp is PLENTY!

i would not hesitate to buy any used commercial mower over a new one for personal property.
Unless you're looking at financing one.
