I thinking about buying an AR. Not necessarily for protection because I already have multiple firearms. I thinking about it more as an investment. Where is a good place to purchase one in the Baton Rouge area?

Sulzer or Bowie's. Sulzer makes very high quality ARs at great prices.
Edit:I didn't read what you wanted it for. If you want one for an investment, just buy a bunch of cheap ARs and wait for another panic.

Honestly they are not good investments. If you want one just because then go for it, but don't think you will get your money back out it when you sell it.

This. They've become just like baseball cards from the late 80's. The market is oversaturated.

I was in Interstate Arms in Hammond the other day and they have some really nice Daniel Defense AR15s. If you don't mind just a little longer drive, I recommend going there. Daniel Defense is a very fine AR15 and IMHO make a better investment than quite a few other brands should you want to sell it later one.

Speaking of Daniel Defense, I have a DDM4V1 circa 2007- 3 digit serial number. Any way to look that up? I bought it before DD was well known. Just curious.
