Not really commercial fishing per say. I guide on a freshwater lake full time. Have been since 1997. Mostly sport fishing.

Worked on commercial fishing tug on L Erie for a summer in HS. Trawled for smelt - that was pretty easy lots of waiting until you brought the bag in then shovel teh smelt into fish totes.
Also gillnetted for walleye and yellow perch - hydraulic net pullers so thats pretty easy but picking fish from gill nets is no fun and hard on your hands etc.
Much respect for those guys especially in spring and fall when weather gets a little nautical
