Would be for a diesel and taking all my exhaust crap out. Problem is my truck only has 21k miles

I've got no experience with that tuner. I put a Edge tuner on my 08 Duramax and gutted my exhaust at 40k miles. I've got 150,000 on it now with no issues thus far.

If it's still under warranty don't frick with it. It's not worth it.
Once the warranty goes out it's worth it.
ETA: Depending on what truck you have. Anything with urea is definitely NOT worth fricking with.

I've had no issues with mine at all but I don't think I would do it again if I got a new one. I get tired of the exhaust noise.

Urea seems more of a reason to get rid of that crap
An not too worries bout noise, new fords ultra quiet

Well not to say you got lucky with yours or anything, but you got lucky
I know a guy who blew up a cummins with 20k miles on it because he gutted and programmed it and drove it like he stole it. He's looking at a $21k (not a typo) repair bill. Engine is completely destroyed and the transmission has to be rebuilt.
If it's under warranty, it's not worth fricking with in any shape or form. Sure, it will be badass and all that, but if you find out at 30k miles that you bought a POS, you're screwed.
Those things have 100k mile warranties on them. Use it.

Urea is the best thing that ever happened to diesels since 04.

I know a guy who blew up a 6.4 but he is an idiot...

Exhaust crap all sucks for diesels getting rid of all that is best thing. Guy I'm talking to sad new fords are easy to put everything back in if needed. He says all the exhaust shite that come out weighs 300 lbs alone. If I can get 4-5 extra mpg's that's huge like 1k a year

I've never driven my truck hard. I got it mostly for the mileage improvement.
It was hooked to a trailer almost daily for the first 3 years I had it.

Doesn't take much to blow the 6.4 lol. 6.7 here

Well you can do whatever you want. It will be a bad SOB if you do all that.
Just remember that you are voiding a warranty and NOTHING on that thing is cheap to repair.
And especially a powerstroke. They still use TTY head bolts and you might roast that bastard 6.0 style if you soup it up.
Take it FWIW. I worked as an engineer for a major diesel engine company last year and I would absolutely not frick with a new diesel.

Yea I had one for about 6 months. I put a SCT on it ran fine no problems... The guy I spoke of earlier was dogging the hell out of his... How u like the 6.7? Im in a ecoboost now and don't regret getting rid of the 6.4 lol

Yours is a pre-urea rig. Something with just a DPF EGR and regen can benefit a whole lot from loosing all that shite.
You're still voiding a warranty though. Why anybody would intentionally void the warranty on a $40k+ truck is beyond me. You might have problems, you might not. I can promise you that you definitely do not want to pay for them though.
The fuel mileage gains on a urea truck won't be nearly as good as they are on DPF/regen trucks either. Urea cuts out a wholeeee lot of regen.

4 yr gamble basically for me. I wouldn't be lifting it or anything else for what it's worth. It'd be nice to get mpg gains sooner than later though
Posted on 9/29/13 at 8:57 pm to Chad504boy
It definitely has the potential to pay off. Is it a urea truck or not?

6.7 been great thus far, love my truck. My buddy has a 11 250 and just had to get some exhaust sensor changed, basically killed his truck in interstate
Posted on 9/29/13 at 8:59 pm to DownshiftAndFloorIt
Yes I got 12 ford 250

I doubt you see much fuel mileage increase by stripping it. They can be coddled to 20mpg from the factory.
There's just no way I could ever suggest somebody void the warranty on those things. They are very complex and very expensive to repair. It's a great setup as it comes off the floor. You don't stand to gain as much as the pre-urea generation.
If you're set on doing it though, I guess HS is about as good as you can do. Don't skimp out on having the work done. It takes a whole lot to make those things run right once you frick with them.
