Looking to buy a higher capacity 9mm handgun as all I have is 2 single stack guns now. If anyone has one of these or has shot either, what are you thoughts? even open to more suggestions

I currently have a P320 compact and have shot a friends 509 several times. They are both fine guns if you're just looking for a general use high capacity pistols. Both have positives and negatives.
Overall I really like the P320 platform; Sig offers a lot of grip choices and in-house "aftermarket" support for the gun. Since it's been adopted by the military, you know that parts and magazine availability won't be a problem. Definitely get either get one of the X series with the flat trigger or do the upgrade yourself. OVerall the gun feels nice and shoots really well, the trigger is short and the break is predictable and good, but a little anticlimactic, if that makes sense. On the down side, much like is typical with Sig, everything is expensive. Magazines are $35-50, that said they are readily available in both 15 and 21 round. Their grip modules and slides are really expensive for what they are. Still, I enjoy shooting mine, it has the classic Sig manners and is easy to shoot.
The FN 509, has always been a little pricey for me for what it delivers. It usually is around $100 more than the usual suspects in this category. It shoots nice, I'm not a huge fan of the trigger, but I'm picky like that. The grip is a little too upright for my taste; again that's just me. Haven't really looked into prices for accessories for the FN, as it's not mine, but I suspect things will be a little harder to come by since it's not one of the higher volume brands. I know my local shop here in NC has the FN mags for around $45-50 and they usually price Glock factory mags around $25 and Sig 320 mags for $35 for comparison.
If you are looking at a basic 9mm to put a high volume of rounds through, it's hard to not look at your typical Glock 19 or 45. I have both, I like the extra grip length and capacity on the 45. A good value option is S&W M&P 2.0. The current gen triggers are very nice, make sure you try it at the store, some of them can be a little gritty, make sure you get one that isn't. It's an easy 5 minute fix, but you shouldn't have to bother. The S&W will get you doing the same thing as the FN with an extra $200 in your pocket.
If you want something different than the typical Glock and M&P, cool. I have several other ones I've shot and can recommend. Just depends on budget and what the intended use will be.

I have a FN 509 Tactical. The gun is loaded with features. Mine came with 2 24rd magazines and 1 17rd magazine. Pretty nice carry case too. Optic ready and comes with a bunch plates and accessories to mount one. Shooting wise it works. Good accuracy, good recoil management and feels real nice in the hand. You have an extra back strap that can change the grip to more 1911 if that is what you like.
There are 3 sizes and all three can be had in FDE or black, and Tactical with both colors. Magazines run both black and FDE although the 24 rd mags are all black.
Con wise like many FN pistols, you do need to break it in. FN really loves really stiff springs. It takes a bit to get them settled. Definitely use a magula magloader because the first few times can be a bear. The trigger feel is definitely not a strong suit. It will smooth up a bit after couple hundred rounds but you won't mistake it for a CZ Shadow 2 trigger. Biggest con is a lot of people have broken the striker during dry firing. I recommend getting the APEX Tactical Striker. It's a piece of mind and easy to install.
Overall it's a nice piece but do get the APEX Tactical striker. It's worth the $45.

Have the M17 and love it. Installed a flat trigger and really like it. Gun points well, is accurate and 22 rounds is nice. It is definitely a full size gun which helps mitigate some of the recoil but I didn’t buy it for CCW.
This gun stays in the kitchen safe with 2 extra 21-round mags, light / green laser combo for home defense.

You can't go wrong with either, but the modularity of the P320 is very hard to beat. But if you are are talking high capacity, are you looking at those that have a minimum capacity of 17rds? If so, then as mentioned already you have some good choices out there and budget is important. Oh, and don't forget to ask yourself... do you plan to add an optic or think you might in the future. If you can, I'd always lean towards one that's already optics ready.
Sig P320 (Xcarry, M17, M18, etc.)
FN 509 (no need for the Tactical version unless you're gonna run it suppressed)
Glock (19x, 45)
S&W M&P 2.0
And if you are on a budget check out the Canik TP9 series. The factory triggers are very hard to beat as well as the price.
Good luck.

I own both.
Sig P320 Legion X-five is the best handgun on the market. I added a Delta Point Pro optic and a trigger polish. I love the gun.
FN 507, 509 FNX 45 are all great weapons. I love them but I replaced triggers in all three. For EDC the trigger is fine. For target and competition I had to change them. Factory triggers are "gritty" to me. Resets are off.
This is just my preference though. Both are great guns. You cant go wrong with either. Just do not buy a woman's gun like the 365xL.

Agree with all of this. You do pay more, but you do get some "extras" with the package. The optics ready feature and included plates came in particularly handy when I installed the rmr.

Also comes with a separate spring if shooting suppressed. I've used both though and both cycle fine with my subsonic ammo and can.

Good suggestion. Def. gonna look into this. I haven't had any issues, but peace of mind is worth $45.
All things said, I have been very happy with it.

I always recommended a Glock 17 or 19 as a first-time pistol to anyone who asked until they released the 19x. Now I recommend it. I love my 19x. It's a glock. It's reliable, budget friendly, easy to clean, great gun. Nothing fancy and infinitely after market customizable.
HK VP9 should be added to the list of great 9mm options. It's not cheap, but it's an HK. It's just a phenomenal machine. Hands down my favorite 9mm I own.

As someone who owns several Glocks and loves them, they aren't for everyone.
To me, if used to other semis, the Glock takes practice. When I pick up a glock and point I'm always high because of the grip angle. I prefer sig and H&K for that sole reason.

There is also another striker made.
The company is Shootingsight and it does smooth the trigger out a bit but cost closer to $100. The 509 section on fnforum.net has a lot of info on it.

Sure I have a few 320s. An M17 and M18 both. Love them. Great weapons. I thought I had a few more pics but I guess I don't.

Interesting. I've come across nothing as accurate as my Glock 17. Guess it's a hand thing. For the OP I wouldn't rule out some of the CZ pistols.

I was never a Glock fan. Didn’t like the chunky feel or the bland look. But then I decided I needed a 10mm in my life, the Glock 20 fit the budget, and I fell in love.
