Anyone here ever read "A Land Remembered"?? Best Book I've ever read- by a long shot. As for others, you should check out Cajun Mariners by Woody Falgoux. A FL buddy gave me A Land Remembered and I reciprocated with Cajun Mariners- he said it was good as well.

I haven't read many, but it was the best I've come across as well.
I know most on here aren't from Florida, but any from the United States (and particularly the South can & will love this book).
Cajun Mariners is next on my list....thanks again

And thread definitely bookmarked, as I'm loving these suggestions so far!!

Everyone I met when I moved to Tampa recommended this book, read it within the first month I was there. Absolutely great read. I would recommend it to anyone, Floridian or not.

This book hits home especially for me since I'm 5th generation Floridian. I come from Florida Crackers who were able to survive on almost uninhabitable terrain shortly after the MacIveys got to the same area (both from Georgia).
My family also befriended the local Indian tribes and traded monthly with them for many years. My Mom & Grandparents were born & raised in the orange groves, so the similarities made this read all the more special.
Plus, I'd be willing to bet almost all of us on here come from long lines of families with very similar history & struggles (regardless of what piece of land it took place on).
I really hope a couple folks on here read this book because of this thread......wish I hadn't waited so long. It only costs $10-15.....and will take you 2 or 3 days to read it tops. I guarantee you'll read it more than once & pass it on down to your kids/grandchildren for them to read as well

Kill or Capture by Matthew Alexander (make sure you Google the author name or some political bull shite book will show up too) was fantastic

What do y'all think I should change it to? Simply "Outdoor Book Recommendation Thread"?

I was going to ask if there was a Louisiana book that was similar.

Glad to see so many people enjoyed this book. It's definetly one of my favorites. I recommend it to anyone who will listen. It will make you long for the days of old. I also recommend Springcreek Cheonicles. It's a perfect tree stand book. It's a lot of 2-3 page short stories about outlaw fishermen, hunting, and the outdoors. Any outdoorsman will appreciate it.

Good for the stand. If I have a long book I get to reading and not looking.

Hey Weagle,
Is Amazon my only option for Spring Creek Chronicles? Tried all the local book stores, books a million, B&N, libraries, etc
