Ordered one and thinking of putting an LPVO on it. How does it shoot if you have one?

Yeah. Have been waiting a long time and they are marked up like $500 everywhere. PSA has some and I just went ahead and got it.

Might be the first time I’ve seen somebody spend ~2K on a gun and then ask everyone how they like them.

I don’t blame you though, it’s nice to see them for sale at a retailer even if the price is still inflated.

My buddy has an older one and loves it. I’ll get one someday.

Yeah, it’s sad that I feel like seeing them for $1,200 online might be a tempting deal

Well it's obvious why Marlin didn't make it. They were insanely high quality for how complex they are and how cheap they were. A 336 could be had for $350 brand new right before remington bought and ruined them.

The ruger versions are supposed to be as good as the marlins were. They're priced to stay in business this time though. I still haven't seen one in person.

I have a marlin version in 35 Remington. It’s a good shooter . My son killed a deer with it yesterday.

They still seem fairly rare and I know someone was on here asking a year ago. One of those things I've been looking at for a while off and on. Decided today was the day I guess.

I didn’t realize the trappers at Cabela’s are actually less than MSRP… might have to get one soon.

Got a Marlin 1895 GBL about 10 years ago. Got over 200 rounds, 45-70 is a thumper. Ammo to expensive now.

You oughta get yourself one of those lee loaders and reload for it, the kind where you use a hammer and beat the die onto the cases. It's a minimal investment, super easy to do, and very fun. It'll make that 45-70 wayyyyyy cheaper to shoot.

I actually have a large stockpile or Hornady leverevolution. I have a single shot 45-70 that has killed many deer.

I have one and it's a lot of fun. I've kept mine open sights for the old school aspect and shoot it every now and again. $2.50 per shot is a little hard to stomach at times

Same. All my buddies have asked to borrow it - I don't mind they just need to buy their own ammo

FYI, it's currently in stock at Academy in Hammond, Metairie and Slidell.

I've got a couple two or three or so JM Stamped 1895s, two in 45-70.

A bunch of 1894s and a few 336s and 39As.

I'm hearing Ruger is doing a great job with the new ones.

I'd stay away from the Remlins. Strictly JM Stamped or Ruger made.

45-70 is the greatest all-around cartridge ever imho. Especially for handloaders.
