Everyone i have seen on the lake looks arse heavy. Probably better than an express with cc. You will not want to be out in anything more than light chop and quartering is going to be wet.

Thanks much.

Being "arse heavy", are they running too much horse power?

Havoc, Edge or Ambush if your serious about an aluminum boat in that class as a excel. They are just better.

I did look at them when I bought my bay boat last summer. While looking at them in the showroom, I wanted it. Same gauge aluminum as Xpress boats, and I ended up with the Xpress and I am happy with it. The dealer put together a better package for me.

Nope they just sit very low at the transom, like 6" of free board. Should sea trial and see for yourself, that's just my take on the boat. None of the production Al cc boats are really inshore capable boats IMO. They will beat you up and get you wet.

I have an 18 Express. It sucks pretty hard and I’m selling it and going fiberglass 20.

if you plan on running exclusively rivers, marshes and small bodies of water an 18’ aluminum bay boat is fine. But, that is it. If you cross anything with a chop your teeth will chatter and you will probably be soaking wet.

Sold my 18’ Xpress and bought a 22’ Blue Wave.
