I dont get sad when watching a fishing show...ever!

But I do get envious a bit! That dude lived a great life! I cant even imagine being able to fish the places that he was able to fish, the fish he was able to catch, AND get paid large while doing it!

I remember reading that "rumor" as well when he died. I don't know if there was anything to it or not. I am not going to spend the next hour bird dogging google myths to prove/disprove either.

On TV, I liked his show. It was probably one of my favorite fishing shows of all time.

Yeah, remember reading somewhere that when the crew went partying after a shoot he'd disappear sooner or later. Supposedly in search of prey.
On a side note, I'd never go hundreds of feet in the air in anything I built.

That was a widely circulated rumor among those that knew him and in the industry. I don't recall it ever being confirmed...

Can't imagine that being true, SF is easily my favorite outdoor show. The episode explaining how he started out as a guide/etc. is pretty damn sad

Yes.
I have recorded a ton of his shows since last April. He was a great guy and helped many charitable causes.
And he wasn't a child molester.

There was one where he dove in the water with the rod in his hands to untangle the fish from a reef. I want to say it was a hogfish, either way, the guy would do anything for a fish and had a contagious personality

I saw two times he got in the water to get fish. One was a giant tarpon where he swam the rod under a bridge/dock and back around to the boat for the angler to continue to fight the fish and the other was down in Australia where he caught a red reef bass, I think, and did swim out into the reef to untangle and secure the catch.

Jose...RIP
