Ended up going get a little quantum bill dance ultra lite combo. Rigged it up drop shot with a little squeeze weight. Thing is pretty smooth for 40 bucks. If it stays feeling like it does, might replace my zebco 33 for “croppie”.

Dont really know! I had them, but it was an impromptu trip up the Cumberland Gap to find some biting fish and we hiked in over a mile to get there so I packed light. Very light. My attire consisted of jorts that I had to wear from losing a bet, a fly vest and no shirt, muck slip ons, a rod and fly box and net and 4 PBR's still in the 6 pack plastic holder thingamajig. Within an hour of catching my 1st fish, I had caught dozens, and within the next 30 minutes of me trying to cross back over and getting my shoes sucked off when it swept my down off my feet, it went from summertime hot to the low 40's in that hollow. I almost went in to hypothermic sleep.

Thing is, it wasn't my first rodeo, nor was it my last. It wasn't the 1st time I has fished mountain streams in a storm either, but by gawd it musta been one hell of a dollywhopper upstream because it went from babbling to screaming in literal SECONDS.

Never have I ever been so unprepared, as I'm always an overly-prepared person, but never will I ever intentionally be that unprepared again. I do it one time and almost lose my life over it and have to walk out of the black mountains for 9 miles.

When we got back they gave us some Gatorade and power bars, and for the love of all that is good and kind I've never tasted such a delectable mouth full of joy in my LIFE.

If you don’t/can’t flyFish, spin any stream with soft plastic helgrammite.

Cast them anywhere where there is still water beside moving water. Like behind a rock. Rover fish like to sit in the still water while the fast conveyor belt moves food by it.

Black, but if the local bait guy says the time is right to use yellow/gold, use that. Smallmouth cannot turn them down.

Just press the barb down with pliers that suffices

Having a fricking blast over here. The whole children’s only spot by the hatchery was a bust yesterday and today. The other park was packed but nobody was catching. My license ends tomorrow so we’re hitting pigeon forge. If we get on some I’ll get another 3 day

MIL tagged along for the trip (babysitter for mommy daddy time) and I’ve got a step stool for her to get in and out of my truck. She doesn’t even attempt climbing down the rocks to get in the streams. Can’t really cut her loose by herself because I’d feel bad so I bought my wife a license too. Tomorrow I’m going to leave them on the bank and get at it.
No fish pics so far, hopefully that changes tomorrow.
