Anybody have any used boat dealers that they've had good or bad experiences with.

Thinking of buying a boat, would prefer used (wife wants new of course), been looking at quite a few and wondering about dealers in south Louisiana.

The Boat Yard in marrero has a couple I like but it's like they don't even clean them to take pics of them. The boats look filthy and therefore seem very used.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Also, I'm in BR but have no problem driving a few hours for a "deal".

Gonna check out Boat City in Hammond this weekend has well.

Honestly I haven't even narrowed it down to one style. We live about a mile from Big John's/Freds in Port vincent so it would be easy to get to and from the launch.

Really just looking for a river cruiser/family boat to take down the river to lake maurepas. But would bring it other places as well.

I need something that can hold 4-5 adults and a couple of kids. We've looked at the suntracker 20ft fishing barge at bass pro, and I like it, but I just no I'll want something different in the long run.

I've looked at mako's thinking fishing, but the wife thinks that would be uncomfortable (for her).

Looked at some used tahoes too.

I've dealt with the boat yard before and wasn't blown away with the sales folk's boat knowledge. A lot of the boats they sell are consignments and they generally don't have any information on the condition of the boat before they got it.

I've always had better luck looking on the sportsman or salty Cajun. Just be sure to do a compression test, check for water in the lower unit etc no matter where you buy the boat.

Bought one at boat stuf on the Westbank. Nice guys. Might not have a huge selection.

Thanks for the info. I'm planning to sell my boat (bow rider) and was thinking about contacting them, but was worried that they would be less inclined to "push" consignment boats.

Shoot me an email and I'll give you details of mine. Maybe it's what you're looking for.

I tried to let them sell mine and it took over a year. I finally had to go get it and sell it myself.

If you are interested in any Tracker model, go to Boat City like you were thinking. They have/can get any boat that Bass Pro has and you will pay a lower sales tax there. Talk to Nickie or Jacob, they are both very knowledgeable and will help with anything you need.
