if you want some swift water go right outside of hattiesburg, ms; only 2 hours away from BR, okatoma creek is the name of the waterway, has quite a few waterfalls in it. I would definitely suggest that.

Launch at mile 225 ahp Mississippi river. There is parking by the levee there. Launch and paddle south till you get to Venice marina. This trip also makes a great first date.

What about snakes.

Do you envision these snakes hurling themselves out of the water at you in the kayak?

I will look into this Teche deal. Sounds great to me!!

Lus, we will be looking for you at the lakes.

We saw a gator on our last trip. There was a beach that had slides and prints all over. One made a brief appearance and slid away as soon as it saw us. It was no problem.

As far as snakes......well, we did have two mocassins drop into our canoe out of a tree once. That was chaos!!

CarRamrod, who you talking to?

Ignignot,

I have taken a canoe out there. We overnighted, camped out on a beach. It was a blast.

Three canoes tumped over at that bigger waterfall. Bunch of girls. Wet tshirts. It was great! Took awhile to gather all their gear, but it was a ton of fun.

Like I said ive been to a large number of places. I think 84 now and counting. Mostly in Louisana but did a few several day trips in mississippi.

At one time I was doing a book of all the trips. launch pts where to go, etc...

Im a recreational kayaker but nothing hardcore. I like to drink beer, paddle, listen to birds, drink beer, paddle, etc...

Yea, I have done bayou Plaquemine a couple of times. Good trip at about 6-7 miles long from the locks to the intracoastal water way. Watch out for the mullets. They will jump right on the kayak and scare the crap out of you.

I can do 5 or 6 miles, but there's some spots with awesome fishing that are just too damn far away.

Not that it matters since fishing is closed.
