I have run across an opportunity to purchase an Anschutz 64 MPR in .22LR. If it has been fired, I couldn't tell. Really heavy barrel, nice wood, very minty condition. I'm guessing early 2000's date of manufacture. The guy selling it is selling it for the widow of a friend, and he actually has two of them. The 2nd one has definitely been fired and has some handling marks on the stock. I looked at them today and passed for today because he didn't have boxes for them, and also didn't have the odd shaped tool for adjusting the butt plate.

He says there are gun boxes at the widow's house and is going to check tomorrow to see if the ones for these two are there. Based off of what all he is selling, I'm betting the guy kept the boxes for these if he kept any at all.

I still want at least one of them regardless of whether he finds the box or not. What do y'all think is a fair price for the one that is at least 98% (probably better) with and without the box, paperwork, and tool?

Unless I am doing something wrong, there are exactly 0 current or completed auctions on Gunbroker for one of these. Given the situation, I want to offer a fair price, but I don't want to overpay either. I would appreciate any advice y'all may have on the matter.

Yeah, I couldn't find one currently for sale or completed. Very odd. They aren't that rare.

If one is "as new" and the other would make a good hunter I'll take them both if you don't want them.

If you change your mind I’ll buy both. They are fine rifles.

Based off of what I found on rimfire central (thanks for that recommendation), his asking price seems to be reasonable. I will likely get them this weekend. Here's hoping he finds the boxes!

What would a Anschutz 64 MPR go for used in good shape?

A used Anschutz 64 MPR in good condition typically sells for around $700 to $950, based on recent market data. Prices vary depending on specific features like barrel length, stock condition, and included accessories (e.g., scope rails or magazines). For example, a 2014 model with a 25.5-inch heavy barrel was listed at around $875 in 80% condition, while one in very good condition with a scope rail and magazine was priced at $999. Checking sites like GunBroker or GunsInternational for current listings can give you a real-time sense of the market.

My dad has an early 70’s 54 sporter. It’s the finest 22 rifle I have ever shot. Cloverleaf 5 shot group with match ammo at 50 yards on a bench. I would by that 64 no question.

I have a Anshutz Woodchucker. Back in the mid 80’s they had some 1416 rifles that had crown issues. Instead of shite canning they cut the barrels to 16” and put a cheap stock and sold as a kids gun. I bought one for my 15th birthday. They are getting harder to find.

one sold for $810 on True Gun Value 4 months ago

the 64 is a very nice action, and considered the little brother to the more desirable and accurate M54 target action. The 54 actioned rifles are 2x's the price

IMO - before dropping $1000 on a M64 Annie, I'd buy a CZ 457 American, Varmint, or Luxe as prices range from $375-$675. Lots of aftermarket barrels, triggers, stocks if you want to upgrade and they are scary accurate.

Well, he had several other guns, parts, mags, ammo, etc. that I also wanted, so I ended up with both of the Anschutz rifles in a package deal. Not sure what I will do with the second one, but I will figure it out. Eta... He did not find the boxes. That sucks, but it is what it is.

I picked everything up this afternoon. I'm pleased with the purchase. Does anyone have a recommendation for a scope and rings for one of them? This will just be something to have fun with at the range. I don't really want to spend more than $500 on the scope.

The grooved receiver takes 11mm mounts or scope rings. BKL makes very good 11mm grooved scope rings that are affordable and most people use.

Talley makes two kinds of rings for Anschutz rifles: dovetail rings and rings that screw directly in the pre-drilled holes. Both kinds are relatively popular.

Another option, EGW makes a 1 piece scope rail mount (pic below) that is milled for picatinny rings. Research Arken optics as they are very clear, affordable, repeatable, and built like a tank. Pretty sure they offer a model that has a side focus that goes down to 10 yds. Burris and Leupold both make rimfire scopes that have parallax set at 50 yds., or have the adjustable objective feature to fine tune parallax. Ammo: RWS, Lapua, Eley, and/or SK match RF ammo will likely shoot the best. A barrel tuner will often times shrink groups in 1/2.

Get a Sinclair bore guide and a quality cleaning rod and clean the bore as needed
