See, that's where the misinformation is. The HK is a hammer fired weapon that is capable of cocking the striker with the trigger. It has a helluva pin impact on the primers and isn't a true double stack like the Glock. The internals aren't just "the same" and cost more, HK uses metal guide rod for the recoil spring...The texture, the fit...the breakdown the weapon...The HK will fire with no magazine, the HK is designed to withstand firing the weapon with a round int he barrel...I mean seriously, just a clone of another gun?
I'm not even that into pistols so I may have some of this information all fricked up...I'm just a German engineering fan and the mix of understated style that goes with the products I'm drawn to goes hand in hand. I'd argue about my watch or sedan or anything in the same light.

You are correct on multiple counts.
1. HK isn't a clone of anything. Predecessor maybe, but not a clone.
2. HK's are very reliable -- which trumps "feels good in my hand." (Also trumps "hot," "sexy" and "badass" -- which seem to be frequently mentioned as definitive criteria in evaluating SD handguns.)
As has been pointed out, the OP didn't specify his proposed use(s) for the to-be-purchased gun, nor did he specify which Beretta model he is considering. But any full size or compact size 9mm M&P is head and shoulders above a 9mm Beretta for SD purposes.
If looking beyond those two choices, Glocks, HK's (with LEM trigger) and older model SIGs (with DAK trigger) are top-tier semi-auto handguns.

no 1911 is an excellent idea it will be a while before you probably mature enough to have the privilege to own such a fine weapon.
I would suggest a .22 for you or maybe a 380
get which everyone feels the best

I left out the HKs because the two he listed are not close to the price point. If he would have said Kimber , sig... I would have said HK . How do you think I feel nobody says cz?

Hahaha shite I forgot that one. That's a solid choice.

Function. The LEM HK is custom made for first time pistol owners. It's a dumbed down, over engineered hand gun made to absolutely work when you pull the trigger. Entry level people look for features over price point, we're not buying ten guns. The HK is not replicated in the market, and a grand isn't that much different than 600 when ammo costs what it does. Rightly, the 357sig wasn't a good economical purchase but damn you couldn't pick a tighter package to put it in.

To some 400 is a leap though.
