If close to Belle River/Pierre Part, go down to Duffys, they sell everything you need. They will tell you what to do.

Unless you catch 10 footer it is not worth bringing them to a buyer. If you just want the meat and to have fun 5-7 footers are what you want. They are easier to deal with and have a lot less fat to carve off.
As for setting lines, don't tie to branches. You would be surprised how big of a cypress brach they can rip off the tree. Tie to the trunk if possible. Attach a jug to your rope in case they break what you tied too. As for hanging the bait high, it all depends. I never go more than 2' and have caught all sizes.

There’s a buyer from Lafourche that drives around and picks them up. He will come to the launch, your house, etc.
You need to document your catches on the WMA and keep your receipts to send back to Wildlife at the end of the season.
