Where you hunting? That's an extremely skinny older deer if what you say is true

the pics from early october where his neck is as thick as his body.

Two of the night pictures you can see a lot of sway in the back but I think it's the way he is standing.
I'm just not seeing a lot of gut hanging, drooping chest, sway in the back. In fact, some of those pictures and it looks like you could draw parallel straight lines down the back and under the stomach. No way I'd say over 3

yes but no way he's that young when you look at the neck and brisket in pic3

Yeah I missed that, but the broadside pic looks like a young deer to me. Skinny waist, long legs, straight back, long face

Didn't even look at dates on pics but he looks pre-rut. When they bulk up before the strenuous week or two of chasing tail
I should also add that any aging of deer that I do is only a guess based on what the outdoor channel has taught me. Closed captioning provided by Bad Boy buggies. They'll never hear you coming

Note we have been in a serious 3 year and moderate 5 year drought.

I would think that would have made him look older. If that's the case that's probably a different deer than the one you seen 3 years ago

racks are essentially exact from previous years. the curvy left brow tine is the give away.
