Headed to Uncertain, TX for a bachelor party this weekend. We will be staying on the lake and I hope to do some sac-au-lait fishing while we are there.

I've bass fished caddo on the LA side before, but haven't ever fishing the TX side. Any pointers from the OB? Water temp will obviously be a deciding factor, but plan to target trees and brushpiles in 10-12' of water to start.

Not Sure About Crappie but the bass should be ready:

Senko weightless in the grass, find pre spawn flats with 4-8 ft of water with grass a couple of feet off the bottom adjacent to creeks.

With the cold front they will be slow so throw it far and twitch it slow.

Also craw worms or jigs on cypress trees

Red Trap
Big White Spinner Bait

Shiners or jigs under a cork. Just start hitting trees.

Seriously though, the only deep water I know of is in Cypress Bayou or under the bridges at Mooringsport. Seems like the majority of the lake is 8' or less.

That said, I start by jigging around "outside trees" in 6-8' of water. Move in with the fish. By mid March white perch will be shallow. Right now, they are somewhere in between. Find the right depth and color and it can get exciting quick. The problem is that it always takes me a couple of trips to figure them out.

Probably most white perch being caught on Caddo right now either in channel in Jeems Bayou, or in the river over by Johnson's Ranch. They should be staging up preparing to go shallow by some time in March. Heard that some were being caught north of Shady Acres on the B Row the last few days trolling jigs.

Hah, yeah I know. I'm thinking the river channels on the TX side should hold some deeper water. We will be right by Johnson's Ranch Marina and can run to Big Cypress Bayou pretty easily too.

well, i was gonna tell you to go to crip's camp if you want some good, real time info, but it's apparently closed. i grew up fishing that lake with my paw paw and used to know it very well, but i haven't fished there in 10 years.

Anything other than your standard black/chart, black/pink, monkey milk, and green pumpkin I should be slinging? Or am I on the right track there?
