Advice needed for outdoor kitchen build with concrete blocks

I'm planning my outdoor kitchen and think I'm going to go with concrete blocks to build out my cabinets and have a few questions for anyone that's done something similar. Is anchoring the blocks to concrete pad with rebar and filling the voids with concrete really necessary in this application? It seems to me that the blocks would be plenty strong for cabinets just mortared togther. The blocks will be covered with a stucco like finish once complete if that matters. If anyone has done this before I'd appreciate any tips.

You want to attach them securely to the ground to avoid lateral movement. If you don't and it gets bumped or moved for some reason, there could potentially be a lot of shifting and crack the finish. Maybe not every cell needs to be filled but it would behoove you to have it attached well.

That makes sense, I didn't think about the finish cracking.

Do you have someone lined up in BR to do the stucco work because I will be needing someone to do a little and I'm looking for suggestions.

I would dowel rebar and fill at least every 3rd cell, and every cell on a corner or where any openings are.

I did a similar build for a fire pit. It is basically a concrete block base with a concrete countertop on it. Mine is completely dry stacked except at the very top where I used mortar to help level the top. Caveat is that its only 4 rows high. We added a stained smeared mortar finish to the outside - very similar look to stucco. No cracks in anything so far. It is 3 years old.

If you set the blocks on a mortar base, it will not move at all.
Is it going on concrete or on dirt?
If dirt, you will need to build a concrete footing.

It'll be going on a concrete pad. Quikcrete has some stuff called Quikwall that's meant to be used on dry stacked blocks. I may go ahead and mortar every block and then use the Quikwall stuff to sturdy it up a little.
