The way it should be especially running early morning with no sunlight. I tell my buddies to put them on but they are ignorant. Oh, and on top of that they already have their waders on, so if they fall out they are done.. I just don't get it.

I took him hunting once, but fiqure we are even after my dog didn't put up with his dog trying to hump him and decided a dog fight was a good way to settle the problem.

everybody is picking on me today...

i just like to hunt to where i can. speaking of, what invitation should i accept for this weekend. opelousas rice field or Bell City rice field. i'm having a tough time deciding.

its hell getting out there. long drive, long boat ride, long canoe paddle, long walk through the marsh.

most of the birds are resident ducks so there were rarely large flights coming through. out of 15-20 hunts i dont think we ever got skunked but we only brought home a limit a few times and that was during teal season. the only way i'll go back is in a mud boat. not horrible, but not outstanding. in other words i would gladly go if i didnt have an invite to another spot given if we could take my buddy's mud boat.

no not really. he did pretty good the other day on the rice field but still has much room for improvement. blind marks are his main short coming.

i think he has his head full with just trying to figure out retrieving. i'm sure i screwed him up a bit with him being my first dog. i think i'll let my pup be the "bird dog" and him be the "duck dog" we'll see though. i'm all ears on how to start a bird dog. i really dont want to ruin this one. she has so much potential to be a great bird dog. way more than the other one ever showed as a pup

90% is built in, the pup just needs live birds to unlock the instinct. Training a GSP to bird hunt is nothing like teaching one to retrieve like a retriever. All my old live bird bird supplies have dried up but I think I have seen a few listed on Craig's List.

I went to a trainer once a week and its much cheaper and you still get to train your own dog, but under the wing of a trainer. Really worked out great, and its a fraction of the cost of just leaving your dog with a trainer.

ETA: I have a lab, duck dog.. I thought thats what yall were talking about, but the trainer may be able to help with pointers too.

I know it wasn't you because the guy screaming had somewhat of a deep voice. He could never sing soprano as well as you.
