Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses. I've been been advancing him slowly when it comes to shooting. He is also my oldest of three boys, so this gun will get a lot of use over the next 10 yrs or so.

We have the Remington Youth Model 7 and shoot the Remington Accutip 140 grain rounds. A great deer gun.

I have been shooting a Browning A-bolt in 7mm-08 for a few years.It is a deer smasher!! I could not get good groups out of anything i tried in it . I finally started reloading the Barnes TSX 140gr bullets and groups went down to about an inch @100.
