The Vice Guide to travel is the best YouTube channel there is. Videos of cannibals, warlords, a suicide forest in japan, terrorists, drug dealers, cults, underground LSD labs, female warriors, boys who have sex with donkeys, and every cultural oddity in between. They upload a new video every week. The channel is amazing.
This week they released a four part series about a man who
This brew's for you Fasutino. You are one crazy motherfricker.
Bout to start watching. (hope he doesn't end up being a creep because I won't be able to take that cheers back)
Watching now; watch along.

quote:Just look at the scenery in the first few minutes. Living alone, off the land, in paradise.
Since 1965, Faustino Barrientos has lived alone on the shores lake O'Higgins' in a house built from the remains of a shipwrecked fishing vessel. He's a pastoralist, living mostly off the land and his livestock, with few modern amenities. His nearest neighbors are in Villa O'Higgins, a small community of several hundred people, 25 miles away, accessible only by a two-day horseback ride through rugged mountain animal paths. Every few years, Faustino makes this ride to sell his cattle in town.
Currently 81 years old, Faustino is reaching the end of his life, and his self-imposed isolation is being encroached upon by the forces of government, economy, and tourism. In December 2011, VICE went to document his lifestyle and speak with him about the changing face of Patagonia and the gaucho lifestyle.

Therefore, I am cool with it like it is now. I want these peoples' job. I was born to be an explorer (Aguirre, The Wrath of God style).

Yes it was. Everyone should be required to watch that to know what kind of crazies they have over there. It opened my eyes to their craziness. I watched a couple others since then.
I'll definitely chekc this out, looks good.

Cops found out he had guns so they made him exchange them for solar panels.

The first Thumbs Up America was my favorite. I've been on a real Vice kick for the last month or so. They kindof already did the isolation one tho. With the guy in Alaska. Technically he lives with his wife but still. 75 miles from his nearest neighbor.

Talked to a couple of pilots who have flown him in and out a few times. This dude lives in real isolation. He goes to Fairbanks a couple times a year and lives like most of us would (that live here) if we had the guts.
