Surprisingly, the open carry age in LA is 17. Now as far as concealed carry goes, it's 21 years old minimum in every state.

Yikes...see what you mean. That big fireball I've seen in videos from the Kel Tec sure does indicate a lot of wasted energy. Maybe 9mm is the way to go after all.

Actually, this is just being realistic in Alaska. Just be cautious, prepared, and act decisively, and things usually work out fine.

This is where I'm ignorant...I just don't know squat about a .22 magnum. I was so stunned that my boy so easily dropped that hardened criminal with a Ruger 10/22, that I opened my eyes and mind a bit more, so to speak.

Bear isn't a real issue. We're near town, so we really only encounter black bears...they'll run from a slingshot. The more dangerous brown bears stay out in the bush except for a few weeks in very early spring. Moose are easily avoided.

Good point on sticking with what works for her. Will also look into a hi-cap .380....I'd like her to have more rounds at her disposal. Thanks man.

So does .380 but not NEARLY as bad as a .22 mag

I don't think there are many double stack .380s. The main point being, if they can make a larger framed gun, they can step up to 9mm. The big selling point of .380 is the compactness of the gun that shoots it. My dad pocket carries a Kahr P380. My Kahr CM9 is barely bigger than it, albeit too big for pocket carry, but it is still very small. And surprisingly it isn't very snappy.

Again, I refer you back to 9mm. I think your daughter would be more than happy with it.
