quote:i shot my Colt New Agent for the first time yesterday and I'm very happy with the purchase. It will take some practice to get used to the trench sights but with the Crimson Trace, nothing but head shots and center mass at 10 yards. The recoil is manageable and about what I expected. She ate right through the JHP's she was fed. I still need to find a holster.
I am in the market for a CC .45

Ruger reworked the trigger on the LCP about 6 months ago. You can spot the "new" LCP version by it's slightly taller sights. The new trigger feels not quite as long, and with a lighter pull.
quote:
“Ruger has addressed the two loudest objections to their pocket wonder. The trigger is still heavy but with a distinct decrease in pull distance. The sights are now larger and can be indexed off of more readily than the original design.”

Go jogging with your LCP. I dare you. Rust City

LCP can easily slip in a shorts pocket (in a holster!) and be comfortable to carry.

would suggest the Kahr CW380. It's priced about the same as the LCP but has a much better trigger and decent sights. Look it up.
This is my suggestion as well. Kahr says to put 200 rnds through it to break it in.great fricking trigger

Newest LCP just came out the other day.
It comes from the factory with dovetailed photoluminescent sights, a wide "performance" trigger, and a polished steel guide rod.

The reason the trigger pull is bad on these is for safety reasons if its in your pocket.
Is made for very close combat emergency situations, not for hitting targets far away.

Except, you're not supposed to let people get that close in the first place.
I call that the "Belly Gun Fallacy." People will sometimes say "I (or my spouse) will be fine with a little gun." I don't have to be proficient -- it's a belly gun."
If you let an attacker get that close, you're probably not gonna get your gun out from concealment in time (i.e. You're toast).

And the solution is to be alert (Condition "Yellow"), get your hand on your gun, and start creating distance before they get that close.
Easier said than done, but it's what we need to do.
This is some of the "awareness//avoidance" stuff we cover in my CCW classes (instead of teaching people to name the parts of a handgun and how to align their sights).
Oh -- and we cover how to arrange to have Dennis Tueller as one of your expert witnesses if you end up in court.

The BIGGEST thing that they do not even begin to consider is that concealed carry creates an element of surprise. He went in that room knowing EXACTLY who was armed. That's not how reality works.
And I agree with Dawg that you should never allow someone to get that close to you in the first place without being highly alert and ready. You won't be fully prepared for every single situation. But you can at least try your best to be ready for the fight.
The hardest part of concealed carry is that it's reactionary - the bad guy chooses when and where the fight occurs. It's up to you to try and create space to escape or end the fight as soon as possible.

I prefer the bodyguard of the 2 mentioned. I carry one w laser. Like shooting it... Trigger sucks tho. Would consider the Kahr if I had to do it again... Kahr was $200 more when I shopped...
But of the 2 in the OP, Bodyguard
