I have both 30.06 and .270 in Browning A-bolt with the BOSS system. I have found that I get the tightest shots with the 30.06 at 200 yards with Barnes 150 grain SBT. I reload them and after trying dozens of different bullets these are the most accurate I have ever shot. Even with long shots both guns have plenty of knock down power.
The most important thing with shooting (in my opinion) is to shoot the same bullet weight always.
Practice, practice, practice. This is much more important than all the gear that stores try to sell you. Shoot often and know how your rifle works under different conditions.

Win .308 is the most bang for the buck, IMO. I've used it for 16 years on the stand and knock down whatever I hit.
