Came close to pulling the trigger on a used F-22, but the dependability risk with the racing merc was too much, especially since I take family on fishing trips year round.
Eric Simmons has/had it figured out with his hull designs, hope Shallow Sport does not tinker with it too much.

I believe there are bass or bay boats that hit in the 90's no problem.
When I bought my champion with a Mariner back in the day 70 mph was considered a high speed. I could have put more money in my mariner to trick it out to get more speed.
I wussed out chosing to repower with an evinrude etec could not beat the price and regulations on some West Coast lakes steered me toward the etec.
It is not a suped up Mercury but running in the 70's is fast enough for me.

That's about right - without a nose cone that lower unit will probably blow out at 85.

Guess you've never heard of SCB bay boats then? They've been running 300s on them for years and now 400R's. They will run 80s-90s all day long.
I have, mine is one of the fastest Eric produced, the only true full tunnel Sting Ray ever built. WOT is plenty fast, cruising 70 mph at 4900 rpms is also pretty nice Ran several different fast pad v boats before jumping into a Cat and the differences or night and day, no chine walking and jerking on the wheel to stay up on the pad, 80 feels no different than 50 other than the wind in your face.

I don't see a Parachute or even a Parachute Rip Cord anywhere on this boat.

Only boat that comes to mind that can fully exercise the benefit of a 350 or 400 Verado is Bass Cats Jaguar. Boat is huge and loaded weighs a ton, but that hull design will let that big ol bitch get up and talk. Good set up and driver can have two fisherman, gear and normal fishing weighted Jag running 83-85 mph.
Of course if you REALLY want to fly you scale the boat back to a 19-20 fter like an Allison, Bullet or Stroker and put a racing 300 X on it. Smaller lower unit, more hydrodynamically designed and won't blow out if set up well. I've been in an Allison 2002 with a worked 150XR2 that would do 87, a Bullet with a 300 X (non-stock) that did 96 and a Stroker with a racing Merc that did 101.
Fun as hell but the pucker factor at those speeds can make a diamond out of a lump of coal.
FWIW I would never have done that in any of those boats if I did not have good knowledge of the drivers and their abilities. One wrong move and it's "See Ya".

Boat I saw with the 400R was a Bullet. Black with lime green accents and twin lime green PPs
