Anyone have a Tahoe like this? Just bought a lake place in KC area and looking for a boat. House across cove from us has been sold and seller is selling his boat. Drive it yesterday and seems in good shape. Only issue inside is speedometer isn’t working, otherwise clean. Outside hull is dirty due to his lift being broken for a time. Has records of engine service past 5 years. If I bought it Ieouldnt have to register with the state since it’s on private lake. Also selling with vests, tube and skis. I’ve always had outboard with bass boats etc. Would be first stern drive. Any reason I shouldn’t pull trigger? Asking 23k was thinking of offering 19k.

It has a battery. That was taken before when it was on trickle charge

There is a very small hole on the front side of the foot. Clean in out with a small drill bit BY HAND.

That is for your speedometer tube that goes to the gauge.

Or either the tube is dry rotted. Not a big issue.

Scrap the original Speedo and pick up a Faria GPS model. Under $200 and the gps module is located in the gauge. Constantly had issues with my Speedo fed from my outboard. Switched to this style and it works flawlessly.

Does this mean he doesn't have papers on it? What if you planned to sell it down the road to someone off that lake?

Also, does it have a trailer?

Those things would greatly affect the price for me.

He has the title for boat and the trailer. This is going to be used only on the private lake. If I sell in future I’d be able to with titles.

My issue right now is what to offer. Found out it’s a 2019 actually bought new in June 2020. Received past three years of maintenance records and was basically winterization etc, with exception of putting in on off switch.

Water pump and bellows have never been replaced. With this I’m thinking of offering 17 k.

Boattrader has that model 20-24k

17k seems like a good deal if you get the trailer and turnkey with extras. Tubes are $400+ lol. Heck he might go lower because of how easy it is to sell to you.

Are Tahoes generally reliable boats that hold value?

$17K Sounds reasonable to me...can maybe use the "needs bellows/gimbal bearing/water pump replaced" line to make it work. Probably true anyway. It isn't an easy home job and it can be expensive...the gimbal bearing anyway.

A boat is a money sink...it's only really justified if you are going to get a good bit of use out of it. You will have more troubles from one that only gets used 3-4 times a year than one you use daily.

But...you have a place on the water...it's pretty much a necessity .
