Paw in law bought this thing a month ago- very low miles- but had nothing but problems. I’ve figured out (YouTube) and repaired everything so far.
I can’t figure this one out. Dash functions work and then don’t work.
I changed the key switch electronic control since that seems to be a reoccurring theme with these retro trucks. Any ideas welcome

Had a 2004 Tahoe, cluster was screwy and had to be replaced. Dealership said it was happening with most of that year's models. That was a long time ago, long time for this to just now show up.

2004 Sierra, 2004 Yukon had the same dashboard screwy stuff happening. I replaced the Sierra dash cluster after attempting to re-solder some of it as a DIY. On the Yukon I was able to re-solder the servos and it was successful.

This doesn't help you, but I had a 2003 f150 that the dash lights would only work at 70+ mph while at the same time rolling down the passenger side window, from the driver's side door switch

Figure that shite out

Dealership looked for about an hour and threw my keys back to me.

I ended up replacing the window switch which fixed everything

I had a friend with a GMC Envoy that developed this problem. Turned out to be a bad ground, and he had just installed a new battery. Follow the negative wire from the battery, and locate the ground block. Clean all to ground connections you can find on the engine, and those going to the frame. You should be able to trace them all down by following the negative lead from the battery. We didn't know which ground wire was the culprit, but this did fix the instrument cluster problem.

Better start collecting door and folding top parts. The things were assembled from the GM parts bin but those parts are used up now. Hard to find even old new stock at dealerships.

Could be the stepper motors on the backmof the gauges if they are going haywire.

You can buy new ones if you can solder and recalibrate when reinstalled.

If bot there are places you can send it to and they'll repair em.

I have to do a 2004 chevy Silverado for a guy at work
