Finally had a cool day, season in Arkansas started Saturday but I don't deer hunt swamps in 90 degrees. Made a run out for a 2 hour sit still in work boots and jeans. Had a young doe step out around 630 and after passing on multiple 3.5 year old P&Y last year decided I just wanted a bloody arrow. Only down side is doc won't clear me to pull a bow for at least two more weeks so I had to use a crossbow. Forgot how loud crossbows are and she ducked a bit but still managed to double lung. Incision sites are a bit sore after the drag so maybe he is right. Oh well got the first one out of the way, time to look for bone.

Landowner said thin the does, they are destroying the crops. Who am I to say no to the tender variety.

Congrats, wish I could have hunted today. Saw a few doe Saturday, but I didn't feel like messing with one in the 95 degree heat.

I couldn't hunt my best spot because of the southwest winds and of course this guy walked by at 7am opening morning

My two best spots I can't even look at for at least 2 more weeks. The whole world changes once they cut beans. Drove by today and they defoliated this week so hopefully not too much longer. Good news is after they cut and disk it is really easy to get in food plots.

Saw a really nice 3.5 year old 10 pt @ 100 yards while putting in a blind right before my surgery and had several good possibilities when I quit last season so I'm hoping for a good year.
