Overlooking a broad valley with a plot where I took an 8 point Saturday. Wife usually accompanies me but she’s down with a sinus infection, so I’m solo this morning.
We already unwrapped presents so I got a hunting pass.

I have friends that live in Courtland. I go visit and hunt every year. I love it up there.

I shot a really nice 8 point on Christmas Day a few years ago when he walked right under my stand about 9:30 AM. Wishing the same for all of you in the woods today.

Xmas ‘99 was the last time I killed a buck on this day. I was a lot madder at deer back then.

Weathers kind of mid and muggy but all is good. Really hope he gets a buck. We’ve been patient but my lil 20 acres is right in the middle of Kisatchie and people surround us. Ain’t no use in managing when it sounds like a war some days.

OMaaP…..I’m about 10 minutes from Courtland.
I was a bit leery when I moved here from Ascension Parish, but there’s plenty to hunt.
I do miss the coastal fishing.
Hunt summary from this morning: Saw three does and that’s it. So, I came back to the house and made a couple crawfish pies.
The deer can relax until this weekend.

Merry Christmas! I took my 4 year old "hunting" this afternoon. He ate a cowtail and a stick of beef jerky then decided it was time to go. We heard a lot of shooting. Not sure if there was a lot of deer hunting going on or if people were playing with their new Christmas toys. Been a great day overall.
