1 hour 15 mins to change the bulb in a fog lamp.

What a junk show. It would have been easy if I'd had a lift, but I don't have a lift. The problem was because of where the bulb was located, I couldn't see what I was doing, so I had to do it all by feel. Oh and, BTW, don't touch the bulb. Maybe I should change the thread title to how many blind men does it take to change a light bulb?
You know why it's so hard to work on cars these days? Cause the folks that design them don't have to work on them. At least I didn't have to take the bumper off to change a headlight....

What vehicle? I have one out on and Jeep and it seems to be something like that. I just need to change the bulb, but every video shows changing out the whole assembly and that is a pain b/c you have to take off more items.

Was it an f-150 by chance. The 2018-2020 body style is pretty annoying to change out the headlight housing (you have to disassemble the whole front end basically), and to just put new bulbs in the stock housing you have to go up through the fender well, which is a hassle. But if it was f-150 I think there is a way to use pry tools and pull the fog light housing out of the front and replace the bulb that way, rather than going in through the fender well and fumbling your way around blindly

People like me in the auto industry wonder the same thing.

My dad has been paying a lot of money to have people change his headlights in his tundra, and they go out ALOT.

Ahh my apologizes then, I just assumed F-150 because I have been having to deal with the annoyingness of changing lights and what not as well, as have some of my buddies. But either way, you are correct, there is no reason that it should be so complicated to modify the lights. My truck came with stock halogen lights and I will never again purchase another truck or suv without stock LED's. Luckily though going forward most auto brands are finally starting to put them oem LED lights in basically all of the models and trims.

My wife has a Hyundai Santa Fe. Suprising, every bulb can be changed relatively easily.

You sound like a winey bitch. In fact, after reading your post, I'm pretty sure I'm done with all the pussies on this site. You are pathetic and everyone else that enjoys this PHAG shite.

Good assumption, we've got a 2013.

Yeh, mine was a major pain in the arse to deal with and it sits pretty high, I wouldn't want to deal with that on a lower down car.

I had it on ramps and jack stands but still needed another foot or 2 to get my head in where I could see.

Yeah that sounds like a nuisance. At least going forward most vehicles (cars, subs, and trucks) are going to be equipped with led lighting across the whole model level and this should reduce the need to be changing bulbs as frequently.

It’s designed by engineers that make you want to fix the first bulb and spend an hour on it.
Then for the second bulb, you say frick it and pay $220 for the next bulb change.

This. This 110%. You only left 1 part out. After you pay the $220 you say Frick it again and do it yourself the 3rd time.
Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

Lot of oil changes places will do your bulbs for you as well, and their labor rate is much lower than the stealership.
I did a tail light last week and it took all of five minutes, but if it got complex, was just going to take it in and pay for an oil change and the extra $40 for the bulbs.

FWIW, before he died, my Father in Law, a WWII Marine Corps vet and a child of the Great Depression, was changing out the reverse lights on his Jeep. After he got done, he was trying to figure out if he'd gotten them working or not. He had the car in reverse and was hanging out the car with his foot on the brake. Somehow, he lost his balance and slipped out of the car and ran over his foot, ankle and lower leg. He laid out there for an hour or so before my MIL found him. He lost a fair amount of blood and was rushed to emergency surgery. He survived, but with reduced mobility. In my mind , the reduced mobility is what ultimately got him. He was never the same again. He went from being healthy and active to confined to a chair most of the day. It was a slow decline that was painful to watch as the years crept on.
If I'd lived closer it would have been a 10-15 min job for me and I would have been happy to do it. It breaks my heart to think about it.
