Ladder stand on good travel corridor

Got halfway here and started drizzling pretty good. Radar doesn't look too promising but was too late to turn around and go back to bed. Looking for a big one.

Good luck.

38, wind chill is 32
Sitting in a pit blind that’s more narrow than some vaginas I’ve seen. For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they build these a-frame motherfrickers so small.

Yesterday I helped clean an 8pt killed about a mile away that was still stinking. Activity on my block has moved that way it seems. Cameras aren't showing much so I think im switching to doe patrol as I gave them a pass all season so far

Eta the 8 i mentioned above i had on camera 2 weeks ago. Thats 2 I had that moved off and got caught

I killed a nice 8 that I missed with bow the first morning of primitive. Three other decent young bucks I’ve had on camera were killed by neighbors. Still getting a few passer bus on camera but no shooters. Now I have a heavy big cull 6 that’s a 5 to 6 yr old deer we are after. He showed up the past 3 years about this time and stays untill he dropped horns but I just can’t ever catch him. The first year I passed him and last year when he looked identical but had more mass I tried to let a kid come shoot him but it never worked out. Now he’s back and looks old fat and still has the same horns just more mass so he’s getting a bullet if I see him.

The big 7pt i wanted kept playing musical stands with me early this season. I'd have him on camera at one while im in the other trying to outsmart him. Cousin next door got him 230pm while washing his truck. Saw him standing in his field. Its been quiet ever since. There is one 8 that pops in every few days but he's a slick one.

Leake Co, MS. Boys are both on boxes over feeders and food plots, I’m hunting a road intersection where I whiffed on a buck two weeks ago. Youngest heard all sorts of grunting early, turned out to be a 4 point youngster full of himself. Oldest saw a nice six but couldn’t get a shot. All I’ve seen was the first ‘yote I’ve ever seen, but he was over 250 yards so I decided against the Hail Mary.

We’ve seen very little all weekend. Supposed to snow all night, wish I could stay and hunt in the morning. Saw a lot more does and spikes a month ago, they are supposed to be rutting right now.

ETA: having never hunted Southern deer in the snow...do they move or stay hunkered down with the white stuff?

I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to hunt in the snow. A few years ago it snowed lightly in tbibodaux. I jumped on a stand on a levee in the swamp and saw a few does jumping around playing. It was cool.

A few years ago when we got 6”, I did not find the der moved much at all, think it was just as different to them as it was us and they don’t like different

Anyway it was a pretty cool experience walking through the woods in 6” snow and was beautiful

The few hunts I’ve experienced in the snow sucked. I hunted amite Co MS a few years ago (place is crawling with deer) and saw a grand total of one doe and yearling.
East Felciana they locked down as well...
Of course someone had a thread couple weeks ago about not seeing deer around liberty ms, and every time I went in the woods I saw good deer, so guess it varies.

I hope you survive the wood platform 30’ up. No deer is worth dying over.

Cold, cloudy and still
7mm08 for buckzilla
.300blkout for hogzilla

Filled feeders and trailed corn after morning hunt making them think I left...big brain tactics

Truck is packed and camp locked unless its 8pt or better

Seen a shooter 4.5 year old 8 point, 6 point and a doe. Both bucks were behind the doe following her. Passed him up bc I'm trying to get my wife a buck and I have another one that I'd rather shoot. She doesn't like to hunt the mornings and shes kicking herself in the arse for not coming lol. I'm sure she'll be with me next Saturday morning since rut is getting started here.

Sitting in box this evening due to the rain. Hopefully a doe comes in with buck in her tail.
