Tommy Paul such an instinctive doubles player. That final game was a nail biter and TP saved it with an amazing reflex volley. Congrats to US Men...who would've thought men come away with two medals and the women none. Disappointing, but Olympics tennis always seems to be wonky.

First set to Novak in the tiebreaker. Both guys had a bunch of break points throughout the set, but couldn't convert.

Is anyone else laughing at the outfits the tennis officials are in for this Olympics? They look like middle-agers that have just given up. Gray sweats and beige uniqlo fit-like-a-burlap sac polos.

What the best of 3 format did give us though was Novak being able to redline the whole match. We will never know, but I think if this is best of five, Carlos takes it, so in a way, it might just have been better. Though much like you are saying with that post, I didn't want it to end either.
I've been on record as not being a Novak fan, but that doesn't belie the respect I have for his talent and his body of work. And, he has once again pulled me back in to his orbit with that sincere expression of joy and relief in the afterglow. You can tell that there is a deep-seated inferiority complex there that drives him and I hope this releases him from that to some degree. Not that it matters, but from my corner all credit to him for this and for his whole career for that matter.
