I live here, but I agree. Atlanta is easy for everyone to get to, and has the facilities to host almost anything. Maybe another draw is the people attending your event won't be distracted by other things to do?

Gotta hand it to the committees to attract business to this area, though. The conventions bureau does great work, and the office of film and entertainment keeps the sound stages full.
