If the Administration did this, I would call a fricking press conference and ruin those bastards.

I have an update from my office.
According to our engineers, it's all permits for drilling; shelf, outer shelf, deepwater. Any GOM drilling, they're pulling permits.
As of now, APM's for cased hole work are still being granted.
As far as I know, the permits for any state lease work are not being included as of now, drilling and cased hole/workover. But this wasn't confirmed with MMS.
And FWIW, on the 20 minute drive home for lunch, I took 3 phone calls from representatives w/, or representing BP, all offering short term job offers. I told all 3 of them that if they bumped the day rate up $200 more a day, I'd consider it. Their offer was pretty much the norm for my work industry wide.

OK off shore guys, question for you, does your governor have the authority to shut down production off your coast? The immediate reaction of gas prices if production was stopped might get the attention of the rest of the country. You guys need some help down there. The cost of lost wages could eventually eclipse the cost of clean up....

Thanks for the update and I am speechless.

State lease work should be safe, I don't believe MMS oversees state leases, just federal.

quote:Not on existing production. States are limited to CZM review. Which means they get to review/object/approve applications for activities in federal waters that have the potential to impact their state.
