"The president plans to address the nation from the Oval Office Tuesday night after his return, and will announce some new steps to restore the Gulf Coast ecosystem, already battered before the spill, said a senior administration official. The source spoke on condition of anonymity so as not to upstage the president's announcements."

if he were to actually get cap an trade passed it'll pretty much destroy the US economy with all the carbon credits we will be passed down from industry or companies will just move overseas. O has got to go!!

Yeah,
10s of billions pledged and promises of offshore royalties. Words cost nothing and promises of massive spending do not equate to action.
I will believe it when I see it, not when I hear it.

Nancy and the enviros are relishing using BP as their launch pad for their cap and tax agenda. You are right on

Louisiana can only beg and pray A Gulf Coast Restoration Act comes to fruition. There has been some talk about it and oil companies contribute $X amount per year since they have been a contributing factor to Louisianas wetland loss.

Our best shot was after Katrina and Louisiana blew it. We sent every single damn politician and head of agency to DC in an uncoordinated effort with no plan in place and seemed like nobody talked to each other before arriving. They decided to stick on the back of an Iraq spending bill which was vetoed.

Politicians are trying to weasel out of it, lets hope they don't. La. is set to get more oil tax money for areas offshore in I believe 2017. This is not a new tax but instead La. just getting a bigger piece of the pie that oil companies already pay.

Do you realize that out of 100 dollars that the oil companies make the government makes almost as much of a profit from the oil than the oil companies do. Sort of like the oil companies do all the work and the stinking government gets half the profits. Something just isn't right about that.
