Here is what I got!!
Went this past wknd....saw crews one time on friday comb beach, walk and pic up basically nothing. One of the lead guys who was in charge said they have found FOUR tarballs all week. Beach was clean, pass was clean as well.
We went in water one day- very clear and saw fish and dolphins near the beach as well.
We stayed by the pools mostly- one thing was when your in the water, you smell a little "oily" scent...but that is it.
It is a ghost town though...palyed 18 holes and had 4 other groups on course. Ate at Bubba's once night and they said they are down 70%...our condo lasy said they are down 30% on occupancy...
We stay at Sea Chase, rt across from Winn Dixie and across from new Publix.

My family and I are at the Phoenix VII in Orange Beach right now and I have to say, it is pretty here. The water seems prettier and cleaner than it has been in recent years (maybe because of the attention and cleanup), but we have seen no signs of oil since we arrived. There seems to be more wildlife in the gulf, noticed plenty of stingrays close to shore and plenty of dolphins off of shore. The Phoenix condos have a "oil removal and cleanup area" on their piers, and i looked into their buckets to see if there was any signs of oil and there were none.
Of course there is nobody here. The only people we have noticed seem to be locals and others close to the coast who know everything is OK down here

I wonder if anyone can sue the media for damages?

I wish. What pisses me off about the major news networks is that they put there self in an elevated status while shaking their fingers at bp. But to me they are worse.
BP screw up but at least they didn't do it on purpose. Costing them a ton of money.
The news networks will acting like they are pure are knowingly costing businesses and people money by hyping the severity instead of showing both the good and bad.
But back on topic. I am at Gulf Shores right now. Did not see any tarballs on the beach but did find a few in the water right near the beach. You have to look for them and they basically just act like dirt. Saw crews scooping up sand near the pier.
Saw two king mackerel well out from shore jump clear of the water and baitfish as always near shore and birds diving on bait as small jacks boiled the water a little.
But the highlight so far was I got stung by a stingray. Yep. Right on the inside of my knee. It was a small one thank goodness and it hit in a not so fleshy part which probably kept the bard from sinking in far and making it alot worse.
It hurt like hell and I couldn't walk at first. Just laid on the beach holding my knee. Hobbled back to the condo and by the time I got back (about a mile) I could bend it a little but it still hurt like heck. And mostly not directly where I got stuck.
When I got to the room I got in a hot tub and the pain almost immediately went mostly away. Took three ibuprofen tablets and I don't think I even needed them. A few hours later it feels fine.

I'm in Gulf Shores on west beach. The water and the beaches look great but when your in the ocean and dig your feet in the sand you sometimes have some oil on your toes. Not bad but its there. Other then that the place is quite and beautiful.
