I got in on the last part of the Tony Heyward questions. I think i heard that Exon-Mobil had 1 violation, citgo had 2, texaco had 2 or 3,don't remember and BP had 760 violations. How in the hell do you expalain that.
Why were they not shut down. Are you kidding me.
What the hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I read that a while back, and I can't understand how they were allowed to continue operations. If I am not mistaken, they had more violations in that time period than all other oil companies combined!
They also have had 2 other major accidents in the US since 2005, and were found to be criminally negligent in both cases. They had to have been paying off the right people.

What did all their violations come from? Was it basically one huge issue or just a common occurrance?

I think they said something like 2 other companies, Exxon and another company maybe Conoco had 3 violations combined in the same time period.

I understand that all safety is the most important on the job site; however, I have no idea what their violations were for. Did something happen that gave them enormous amount of violations for one incident or was it truly just a random seires of violations that point to huge policy neglect?
I don't give two shits about BP; however, what I watched today did not make them appear criminally negligent yet.
I really find it hard to beleive they eliminated redundancies in safety on the rig just to make money if they felt it was creating an abnormal level of danger.

quote:Half the story. Most of those violations were onshore at their refineries they bought from Amoco. Those operations share no management with the offshore group.
BP had 760 violations
I used to do work for Vastar. Offshore operator. They got bought by BP. A lot of operators quit. Too much safety rigamarole.
