OI III, ROV2 would be the best feed right now but it's being very balky.
Y'all see those two ROV's that have a piece of frizzy rope for a telltale? First time I saw that, I thought somebody was trolling a jig past the camera.

Only certain ones are working for me
Which has the best view?

View of what? Different things are happening in different places. Go to the link I posted in this thread a couple of pages back and watch all the feeds at once.

What is that the Enterprise ROV 2 is looking at / working on ? Anyone know?
Posted on 7/11/10 at 4:24 pm to TexTiga
This is just a wild-arse guess but I've been thinking it was part of the old top hat. Not the top hat itself but something that was attached above it. When they removed it, it was covered with some kind of crud (hydrates?). They've been trying to melt it with that greenish antifreeze looking fluid.

yall think they will get the valve stack tripped down today?
Posted on 7/11/10 at 4:39 pm to jeff967
Seems like they ought to be able to. It doesn't take that long to trip 5000' of pipe does it? Question is are they ready for it? Looks to me that all they need to do is tighten the flange bolts and they should be about ready but maybe there's more to it than that.
Posted on 7/11/10 at 4:40 pm to jeff967
Have they bolted down the flange yet?

I think OI III, ROV 1 is fixin' to do that.
Posted on 7/11/10 at 4:45 pm to MountainTiger
did not take a very long time on those %hitty little doubles, I worked back home.

You mean the ROV's are just screwing around

At least a couple have returned to the surface. But the guy that's tightening those bolts is on at least the second pass. This time he's torquing the hell outta them so I hope that means he's done after this.

So, do you think that they will keep on working through the night to get the stack on? or would they break for the night and regroup tomorrow. I would tend to think that they would keep on working with different shifts of technicians.

I'm sure they'll keep working. They've been working 24/7 so far and now they're trying to hit a weather window so that's even more motivation to keep going. Plus without the top hat, nearly all of the oil is escaping into the Gulf. There's no question in my mind that they'll go nonstop until the well is killed.

What is the crapped out dome with a pipe sticking out of it? It looks like they have been quirting dispersant in it all day long,

Sorta what I thought. Thanks!
I wonder why they just dont pull it up. Unless it s part of the production package from the explorer.

If it's part of the top hat, then it would have been hooked to a riser up to the Enterprise...have I got that right? So many ships I'm starting get them confused. I was wondering why they didn't just bring it to the surface too. Or just disconnect it and leave it there for now. I have no idea why it's so important to get all those hydrates or whatever they are off of that thing.
Meanwhile Mr. Torque is really putting the big twist on those flange bolts. His first trip around he torqued up to 1500 psi. Second time around he went to 3500 psi. Now he's getting serious and pushing past 5000 and 6000 psi. Would love to know what that is in lb.-ft.
