Technically, no. But I fished on rocks on the backside a couple weeks ago and nobody seemed to care.

Fishing is open to the north and northwest. I was on the island for the holiday weekend. No fishing east of Barataria Pass, no fishing on the beach.

Fishing was not too good, we caught about 20 specs for the weekend. The low pressure system in the gulf pushed a lot of water into the bay and it didn't move out at low tide.

No sign of oil, the water actually looked fine, no oiled birds. Lots of pelicans and porpoises. Also lots of outlaws/cleanup workers on the beach.

Don't tell that to the media......no oil for them, means no story and they may actually have to work.

When you cross over the Leeville bridge I see a lot of boats in the water. Apparently they are putting in at Leeville and going south.

Bridgeside and Sand Dollar were open, although very busy with the cleanup crews.

No live bait at he marinas. I threw the cast net 5 times near the camp and caught 30 or 40 small pogies for bait. Lots of bait in the water.

We fished north of 29 16 00, up toward Rambo Bay and Leesville. Twenty minute boat ride from Pirates Cove.

For those that have fished in the "closed" areas and caught fish.......have you noticed any taste difference?
