I don't see it any other way, the leader is using this as a bargaining chip to round up some more votes on cap and tax.

Yep But I believe he has once again underestimated the consequences of his actions. Screwing over Louisiana is one thing but artificially driving up the price at the pumps to push an agenda is something else. This ones going to blow up in his face.

In the mean time we all suffer.

I have an issue with this.

Passing a well control course given by people who have a vested interest in making sure you pass does not mean you retain that information. I have sat through presentations at OTC and many other places attacking any MMS plan for auditing or testing of on-site personell for well control competency. Industry has been very successful at framing such verification as unnecessary and cost prohibitive.

With the experience that these guys had they should have diff known what was taking place. More than one person had to not be paying attention. And while I am for the on-site testing its not like these wee some newbies out there.

this is a true statement, and i think anyone that has gone to well control school has more than a few stories from individuals that announce w/ great flamboyance during the introductions on the first day that they have decades of experience, only to discover a few hours later that they appear to be dumb as dogshit.

however, it doesn't change the fundamental fact that the BOP system doesn't automatically shut in -- a human has to recognize the problem and do something about it -- and it's up to operator and drilling contractor to ensure the people they choose to put in the critical path know what they're doing.

Isn't that an oilpatch tradition?
