God damn it I love Corvette’s, but especially the Stingray body styles.
I was skeptical when the C8 came out. But it's a fantastic vehicle. Definitely enabled that model to go next level.

C8’s are beautiful machines!

Congrats on gapping a 1991 z06 lol. That 4k pound turd has no chance of "gapping" the newer z06 models.

You ever driven a C8 around a track?
He hasn’t, and he wouldn’t know a good sports car if it drove over him.

You can’t take anyone that uses “midlife crisis” in any car discussion seriously and has really nothing else of substance to offer.

I assume they were standard "street " cars, with stock-everything, except maybe tires.
It better have been, even including the tires. If it wasn't Chevy will get lambasted. That said I would be willing to bet it is.

Doing that speed routinely, I'd have a cage.
I think the Corvettes were hooped, with proper fire suppression and a true racing seat. The 3RS would have had a cage (IIRC is it a 4 point) because it is available stock in Europe. We (stupidly IMO) can't have cars come from the manufacturer with a roll cage or even a hoop if it is exposed in the cabin.

The Corvette has a pretty significant price advantage over the Porsche, especially now.
Talking about the ZR1x the price advantage is likely going to be pretty small possibly insignificant based purely on MSRP. I say insignificant based on the potential buyer group and acknowledging Porshe has a much deeper option list. I mean you can spend $45k on paint to sample plus on a 3RS and have it in any color your heart desires.
From a previous post someone mentioned Chevy used amateur drivers which is correct technically and I am not saying Jorg Bergmeister isn't faster than Drew Cattell but Drew ain't Bubba from down the park. Anyone that can run a sub-7 on the 'Ring in anything is a pedal jockey.
While I expected the ZR1X to be closer to 6:40 than 6:50 given its huge HP, massive torque, rear mid engine, and AWD in todays world it really is more of a hyper GT car than a track focused car, that is still the realm of the Z06.
In the end, this will become a tit for tat with Ford taking the GTD back and starting a lap war. This may actually be what Chevy is goading them into. Porsche will come out with the 992 2RS and destroy them both on the 'Ring.
Finally, in fairness to the ZR1X the real Porsche analog is not the 3RS it is the Turbo S. The 3RS is really not daily drivable for most people, even more so for the people that have the scratch to buy one. The ZR1X appears to be out on the edge of what is possible for the average middle aged white collar guy to drive daily similar to the Turbo S but is a much better performing car than the Turbo S.

I have a GTR that’s looking for some new victims.

Maybe Max will go back with them. I think he said he thought he could knock 5 seconds off the previous time.

I hear that guy is a pretty decent driver. Shame he wasn't a nepobaby like Max, or he would definitely have an F1 ride now. Amazing what a name means.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted, but what I am finding impressive besides the posted times, is the weight the ZR1X is carrying to accomplish this. If it is stock or close to it, with minimum fuel and driver, it puts it close to 4000 lbs.

Probably more like 4250 wet and with driver over 4300 with a hoop and fire suppression.
While modern car weights would give Colin Chapman an aneurysm, modern chassis design, chassis tuning, and electronic wizardry have made mass much less of an issue when HP is cheap and abundant. The cars definitely feel heavier and are a bit behind reacting to your inputs, they still perform way better than should be expected. The R35 GT-R is the poster child for this, and a real shame they haven't done a full model upgrade on it in closing in on 20 years.

yeah, I was being a little conservative because I have seen different numbers reported on dry weight. Curb reported by Haggerty is around 4200.
No doubt. Graham Hill size compared to Jackie Stewart probably gave him fits without saying it out loud.

In fairness, errbody just guessing at this point just like with price.

I agree with e/thing you posted, but given tariffs and Porsche's price increases, I think Corvette's price advantage will be significant.
And I need a backseat.

That’s why I’ve stuck with the R35. My kid likes riding in the car.

An M4 Comp with AWD is more of a GT-R successor than the R35 was

The R35 came out 6 years before an M4 even existed and 13 years before the M4 comp AWD. It was a game changer at the time. Sucks nissan hasn’t updated it.
