I've called girls by the wrong name on a few occassions. It was hard talking my way out of it. Did it once on purpose to try and end things with one girl.

did date a girl for two weeks once and couldn't remember her name unless someone told me. She asked me one night why I never used her name, and then the follow up was asking if I even knew her name

Nope, I've always used an indefinite a like baby, darlin' or doll.
My kids, on the other hand, I can never get it right. I sometimes go through all 4 of their names when trying to yell at one of them.
