Any of you take Xofluza earlier this year for flu symptons? Wife and I had flu like symptoms early February and immediately went to Urgent Care. Both tested negative for flu. We were told we had some "random virus" and were given Xofluza. Felt 100% better the next day and symptoms were gone.
According to WebMD, Xofluza "will not treat other kinds of infection besides the flu virus" If we tested negative for the flu how did this medicine knock out whatever we had so quickly?? Maybe catching it early was the key.

Baloxavir marboxil is an antiviral medication used to treat the flu (influenza) if your symptoms started less than 48 hours ago. It helps make the symptoms (such as stuffy nose, cough, sore throat, fever/chills, aches, tiredness) less severe and may shorten the recovery time by 1 to 2 days. Baloxavir marboxil works by stopping the flu virus from growing. It will not treat other kinds of infection besides the flu virus.

Flu tests are only like 75% accurate. Just because you tested negative doesn’t mean you didn’t have the flu.

Positive for flu mid January. Picked it up in NOLA at the NC game.
Took Xofluza.
Definitely knocked it down, but wasn't the miracle the others are reporting. Mitigated the symptoms and shortened the duration for me.

quote:No. The mechanism it uses on influenza will not work on a coronavirus. Y'all either had false negative tests, a strain of influenza that the test didn't cover, or just a 24 hour virus

Same thing here, had sudden onset fever and fatigue. Went to the urgent care and tested negative for the flu. They gave me xofluza anyway and I felt great a two days later.

Tested positive for Flu Type A in late Feb. came down with fever on Monday, worse tuesday morning, went to urgent care got the test and scrip for xofluza.
Whatever the hell it does, I was better by that night. Was still a few days before completely back to normal but it knocked it out quick.

It turns off an enzyme on the influenza virus that's responsible for replication.
