You set your dog up for failure. I'd never blame my dog for protecting his home from strangers. When strangers (contractors, bug man) do need to come over I secure him.

[quoteI have a particular perspective on this you might want to hear.

Our neighbor took in a Shepard/Pyrenees mix. It wandered malnourished around their church for a couple of weeks and they brought it home. It was a kind gesture.

Their daughter is the same age as our youngest daughter and they played together. My little girl was 11 when she went over to their house to play. The dog had been nice but generally a bit too submissive. That was a warning sign. You’ve got a much more pronounced warning sign!

Sorry to hear that.
Hope your daughter recovers fully. Take the advice of the attorney. Sue to the max.

That is terrifying. We took in a Pyrenees Mix that was extremely submissive like you said.

Ended up being one of the best dogs we have ever seen in our lives. Had all of our grandchildren around it as well. Had the dog 8 years before we had to put it down for health reasons.

Pyrenees are gentle breeds. But way overbred and now some have temperament issues. The numbers roaming and dying and being dumped on the roadside (entire litter) are akin to the bully breed problem. I had no idea Pyrenees were even in the south until I started helping rescues. That said, my Pyrenees shepherd mix is geriatric now and acts like a pup. But don’t be a stranger that he hasn’t been introduced to and told it’s ok.

Is this your first dog? Obviously the dog has bonded with your family and is protective of them. Your kids are safe, as a matter of fact, your whole family is safe. This dog is protecting it's family. People outside of the family are threats. I would keep the dog and feel my family is safe while I am gone.

Quit being a puss.

You should think of your kids and other people’s kids. Get ole killer a steak and then take it the vet to he put down.
