9 was awful. Awful. The best match was Michaels and Tatanka.

the worst part of IX was Yokozuna winning his 1st WWF Championship from Bret Hart... only to lose it < 5 minutes later to Hulk Hogan (who had lost a tag title match with Brutus Beefcake earlier in the show)

ETA: the end of Hart/Yoko was Hart had Yoko in the Sharpshooter & Mr. Fuji threw salt in Hart's eyes... Yoko hits the legdrop for the pin

Hogan comes out and is checking on Hart... who by that time was leaning against the guardrail... then Mr. Fuji makes a challenge to Hogan... Hart tells Hogan to go ahead... Yoko grabs Hogan for more salt from Fuji... only Hogan moves and the salt goes in Yoko's eyes... big boot... legdrop... 1-2-3 and Hogan is new champ

I believe that was Hogan's 1st matches back from some kind of jetski accident IIRC

Well yeah anything that had Bret Hart as champion (or at the top of the card) not paired up against HBK or doing his Canadian heel schtick always sucked.

Yokozuna losing it to Hogan was way worse than him winning it from Hart.....they could have built up Yoko as a huge heel and made monster money with Hogan for the next year or two at least

BUT I think Hogan had a lot to do with this story line.....which led into his last PPV (KOTR) with WWF where Harvey Whippleman (I think) as a cameraman exploded the camera in his face to allow Yoko to get the pin and the title.....Hogan sat out the rest of his contract outside of house shows and went south within a year

right... I guess I should've phrased it better

the worst part was that Yokozuna's 1st WWF Championship reign lasted less than 5 minutes... and was ended by the original golden shovel of the WWF... Hulk Hogan

Agreed.

Royal Rumble 2 months prior was better than IX. Janetty and HBK did a great show and Hall/Hart was one of the better title matches Brett did. Didnt Bigelow compete? And the Rumble itself was great until El Gigante or Giant Gonzalez pulled in and ruined it. Would rather have seen Max Moon win the rumble than see that shite.

Hell, the competition and Superbrawl III did a better job than Wrestlemania that year.

Yep but that point I think pretty much everyone was OK with Hogan moving on including Vince and the fans....although Vince will probably never admit it and probably would have rather Hogan went back to NJPW rather than WCW for sure hah

ETA I'll admit that at 14 I was very ready for the Hart/HBK era.....although it didn't happen for a couple more years it should have started right then.

Also opened the door for the "Lex Express". The "best" at WWF in 93-94 were some of the worst actual wrestlers. And Vince hamstringged Savage.

ROH Supercard of Honor XII from New Orleans is on now. Bucks vs SCU ladder match and Page vs Ibushi were the highlights. Omega vs Cody was ok. You can probably see me in a few crowd shots.

Meh Superbrawl III was better than WM9 but it was far from great.....the gimmick match between Sting and Vader was OK for what it was but I'd have liked to have seen Big Leon and Sting really work....and Muta v Windham for the NWA Title was really just a placeholder to get Flair back in the fold after his foray into NY

They did it too soon. Recall the Survivor Series the previous Thabksgiving weekend. They had an absolutely awesome match. HBK had the IC belt and Brett had won from Flair.

Problem was, as soon as it was over, it was time for Razor and then Yoko to have their turn. Michaels defended against midcard guys. They just left the HBK/Hitman story behind and low and behold, 3 whole years later, it returns. And it was great.

Hogan was out of wrestling for a little bit to film Trouble in Paradise (unless there was some no compete clause at play... but I would imagine it was a contract expiring and not a release with a no compete so Hogan should've been free to do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted in the wrestling biz at that time)

and not gonna lie... I did watch Trouble in Paradise when it followed Nitro

Should have pulled the trigger on it before the clique all left.

ETA but yes I understand what you are saying with the state of the business at the time

I know a few things but have been asked not to pass anything along as it could identify them (leading to termination.) So I will not be taking part in the FWL exhibition picks.

No idea of which matches are which night. I suspect this might be like UFC cards. Tonight being the prelims for the big matches tomorrow night. Really interested in how they make it feel different from the empty PC shows we've been watching for a month.

Windham was a stud but damn did he let his body go. Wrestlemania with Rutunda and Sheik and Volkoff...dude was built like a star. He was 230. 270 bu his prime.
