Goldberg was a HUGE liability out there. Gassed out completely ala Steiner RR 2003. He could've killed Taker there.
He probably concussed himself before that also. He had nothing in the tank.
Taker looked less than thrilled. You'll never see him work with someone he doesn't trust again.

I don't think it was intentional. At least he got Taker up, unlike Roman at WM a few years ago. Goldberg is no stranger to ending people's career though.
